In Our Technology, Soft Tissue Laser

Dentists use many different tools in dentistry. Each tool plays a different role in providing care to the patient. One of the most popular tools used today is known as soft tissue lasers. At Westmoreland Dental Group, we have our own state of the art soft tissue laser. This is what laser dentistry is and why we use it!

Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry is known as a treatment option that uses lasers to reach certain areas of the mouth. Lasers create a direct path to an area using a precise aim. As a result, many dentists began using them. Dentists were finally able to treat different dental conditions with perfect focus. Healthline states the instrument creates light energy in a very narrow and focused beam, therefore produces a reaction when it hits tissue. This allows for easier removal or change to the tissue.

Usage

Lasers are not necessary for every dental procedure or treatment option. One of the ways we use our laser is to help heal mouth ulcers in a fraction of the time. In addition, it allows us to biopsy suspicious mouth lesions without using a scalpel. This helps decrease discomfort following the procedure. Other procedures that often use soft tissue lasers include:

  • Gingival contouring
  • Operculectomy
  • Periodontal therapy
  • Troughing
  • Gingivectomy
  • Uncovering unerupted teeth
  • Fibrous tissue removal
  • Tissue tag removal
  • Ulcers

Soft tissue lasers provide a quicker and more comfortable procedure for patients. At Westmoreland Dental we strive to create quick and painless treatment options for our patients. In addition, we make sure to create a treatment plan that meets your individual needs. If you are interested in learning more about our state of the art technology visit us online here.
