Do you suffer from frequent migraines or throbbing head pain? If so, dentistry might be the answer for you and your migraines!
Migraines
A migraine is an extremely painful thing that can stop you in your tracks for hours, if not days. It can affect the way we function and go about our normal daily lives. Symptoms differ in severity for each person, but everyone can agree they are not fun. For example, some people have triggers that result in pounding migraines like hormones, stress, even your diet. If you’re unsure if you are suffering from a headache or a migraine, check out the four stages of one below. If you experience any of these, you are likely suffering from a migraine.
Prodrome
These often occur a few days before the worst part of your migraine. These symptoms include constipation, mood changes, food cravings, stiff neck, increased thirst or urination, and frequent yawning.
Aura
When this stage occurs all depends on the individual. Some experience it before or during an episode. This can last for a few hours or a day. Aura symptoms include:
- visual phenomena
- vision loss
- pins and needles in an arm or leg
- weakness or numbness in the face
- difficulty speaking
- hearing noises or sounds
- uncontrollable movements
Attack
The attack is often known as the peak of your migraine. This is the part that can last the longest and is typically the most painful. During a migraine you could experience:
- pain on one or both sides of your head
- throbbing or pulsating pain
- sensitivity to light, sound, smell, and touch
- nausea and vomiting
Post-drome
This is the stage following your migraine attack. You will likely feel drained, confused, and overall exhausted.
So how can you stop a migraine from happening?
