At Westmoreland Dental Group we work hard to ensure our patients receive the best care. In order to do so, we stay up to date on the best dental technology. As a result, we have state of the art dental technology that gives us the ability to treat so much more. Here is a rundown of our dental technology and how it is used.

Soft Tissue Laser

A soft tissue laser is a dental tool that allows dentists to treat patients with extreme accuracy. The light vaporizes matter, delivering a narrow beam and promising precision that heals the mouth in a fraction of the time. Soft tissue procedures and other treatments are often difficult to do with scalpels. The soft tissue laser makes these and other procedures easier to get to and with less trauma to the mouth.

Laser Cavity Detection

Dr. Westmoreland uses Diagnodent for laser cavity detection. Diagnodent is a non-invasive, painless tool used for detecting tooth decay that is not yet visible or otherwise goes undiagnosed by conventional methods alone.

Intraoral Cameras

An intraoral camera is a small video camera that takes an X-ray of the outside of the gum or tooth. The small camera looks like a pen and allows Dr. Westmoreland to magnify images of the teeth. As a result, diagnostic abilities are impeccable.

Panoramic X-ray

It is common to get X-rays done of your teeth while at the dentist’s office. This X-ray machine takes a panoramic photograph of the entire mouth and bone structure. This helps Dr. Westmoreland accurately diagnose conditions rather than using traditional X-rays.

Sterilization

Sterilization is one of the most important aspects of dental care. We strive to keep our patients safe therefore we have an entire staff trained on the latest sterilization methods. Our sterilization facility is in plain view for all patients to see.

Cerec Scanner

Our newest technology addition is the Cerec Scanner! This scanner makes impressions for crowns, bridges, night guards, and more in a much easier manner.
