Dental Technology

Soft Tissue Laser

A soft tissue laser is used in soft tissue therapies and allows for extreme accuracy. The light vaporizes matter that delivers a narrow beam to treat mouth ulcers in a small amount of time. The precision allows for accurate and painless treatment, keeping the patient calm and comfortable. Dr. Westmoreland can also perform a quick biopsy on suspicious ulcers without using a scalpel with a soft tissue laser. This greatly decreases postop discomfort.

Laser Cavity Detection

Cavities are one of the most common dental problems people run into. They can be painful, and if not dealt with properly, can lead to other dental issues. The best way to avoid the issues escalating in severity is through early detection. Dr. Westmoreland uses a laser to help detect cavities before they become a bigger problem. The laser he uses is called Diagnodent. It is a non-invasive and painless tool that detects tooth decay even if it is not visible yet. As stated before, early detection can save you money and future dental issues.

Intraoral Cameras

Dr. Westmoreland utilizes the intraoral camera to view and magnify oral conditions. It allows the doctor to get a closer look to assess current conditions properly. The camera can magnify the images of teeth up to 25 times the normal size. This results in unparalleled diagnostic ability. In addition, you can view images on the monitor or a printed copy.

Panoramic X-Ray

Every year your dentist likes to update your x-rays to have a current copy on file. X-rays are important because they provide an in-depth look into the teeth, jawbone, sinuses, and other tissues around the head and neck area. Westmoreland Dental Group utilizes the panoramic x-ray, which uses less radiation than traditional x-rays.

Sterilization Center

One of our most prized possessions is our state-of-the-art sterilization center. All of our staff obtain frequent and up to date training on the latest sterilization methods. This ensures patients receive the safest and highest-quality dental care available. The technology resides in plain view for all patients to see. We disinfect or dispose of each instrument after use. Cerec Scanner

The newest technology to join the Westmoreland office includes the Cerec Scanner! This machine allows us to make quick impressions without the need for goopy impression material. The scanner takes a digital image of your entire mouth, then goes directly to the lab. Afterward, your image returns to us as a completed crown, bridge, nightguard, etc.!
